Tumbling for dancers is like floor gymnastics, without the use of a spring floor. Dancers are trained on mats and graduate to being able to proficiently master the skills on a regular dance surface in order to perform the skills in a routine. Acrobatics/tumbling is centered on fundamental acrobatic technique to increase flexibility, strength, balance, coordination, endurance, timing, body awareness, self-discipline, and confidence. Classes focus on proper hand placement and body alignment with emphasis on the muscles and flexibility required to perform proper technique. Students will learn basics through advanced skills progressing as they master each skill, such a back bends, cartwheels, walk-overs, aerials, back hand springs and more.
